Just as there once was a historic movement called the enlightenment, social tropism is a movement towards something, just because there are many others who are talking or thinking about the same thing. Therefore social tropism represent one more thread being intertwined with a general trend that causes people not to be independent thinkers, but rather to embrace concepts, only because others are talking about and agree with them.

The under-educated masses, and the low brow rank and file people of the US, try to sound intelligent by mimicking the words they just heard on talk radio.
People like to hear it, mainly because it finds a convient scape goat where they can dump of all our worlds greatest problems onto one one politician or political party.
Social Tropism is perhaps the most dangerous of all of today's trends because the trend as practiced today, does not cause one to focus on the real causes which are at the root of Todays Global Problems. Rather its a problem because peoples minds are being "co-opted" and their thoughts (or active intelligence) or "ability to think for themselves" is being replaced by the so called experts who are doing all of them thinking for them.
